INGREDIENTS

  • 2 apples (cored & thinly sliced)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 225° F.
  • Arrange apple slices on a metal baking sheet. (For easy clean-up, place slices on parchment paper.)
  • Bake in the preheated until apples are dried and edges curl up, 1 to 1½ hours, flipping after 45 minutes. (Ovens vary, so you'll need to experiment to see how long your oven will take.)
  • Transfer apple chips, using a metal spatula, to a wire rack until cooled and crispy.

NOTES

  • After experimenting with Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Gala, and Fuji apples, I found that Fuji apples give the best (sweetest) flavor.
  • I use a mandolin to cut my apples. Experiment with the thickness – thicker slices will require longer baking time.
For cinnamon apple chips:
  • Mix 1 1/2 tsp white sugar with 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon and sprinkle over apple slices before baking. If you have a sweet enough apple, you can skip the sugar.
